California Holiday, II: San Clemente

After a couple of days at Pamma's and Grandpa's, we borrowed Bill's Prius and headed for San Clemente to visit Dad and Carol.

We met the new dog Annie, and finally found a pet with energy to keep up with Casey.

Carrie and John arrived on Saturday.

After a mid-afternoon snack, we went for a walk on the beach.

Casey was the only one who braved the cold Pacific Ocean waters.

Before leaving, we all posed for a family photo.

California Holiday, I: Boston to L.A.

Packing.

Waiting at the Boston Logan Airport.

Decorating the tree at Pamma and Grandpa's.

Some of the ornaments were a bit clustered.

Lots of time to play DS.

Britt dug out a stack of Pamma's old 45 records.

He cleaned them up.

And showed Beau how an old fashioned turn table works.

Storm #2: A Good Day To Stay In...

Yesterday, another snow storm -- this time a real Nor'easter -- blew into town.

It was a cold, snowy Sunday morning, just right for sleeping in, hunkering down, keeping warm. Unless, of course, your children play hockey. No reason why we shouldn't gamely venture out and impede the progress of the snow plows!

At 8 am Sunday morning, even the main roads weren't well plowed, and many side roads were were still snow-covered.

Beau's team played a good game, and Beau played an excellent game, himself. But they lost. (You can't see it, but this photo shows that I actually sewed Beau's nameplate to the back of his game jersey before mid-season! Beau is player 14.)

Thankfully, Casey's game was cancelled for the day, so we (eventually) headed home. Noontime and the streets are ... still a mess.

Back at home, our road was well-plowed.

But after spending half an hour digging the car out at 7:30 am, Britt returned home only to have to dig the car back in.

The sidewalks had to wait until after lunch, though.

Trixie, lucky thing, did hunker down: in a down vest.
