Annual Celebration at Cape Cod

The second weekend of the summer break found us on the road at 6 am to beat the traffic to the Cape. We flew over the bridge across the canal and then arrived in Orleans (mid-Cape) at about 7:30. Of course, the friends we were visiting, don't get up that early, so we killed time at Dunkin Donuts and a farmer's market before making a civilized appearance at 9 am.

We enjoyed two glorious days on the Bayside beach. We staked a claim next to a river outlet so that even with the tide out, there was water to play in. Being a private beach, it was quiet -- almost isolated. It was, in fact, magical. And restful. As is tradition, we had a lobster dinner one night. And, as is tradition, Casey and I ate hot dogs instead. On Sunday night, we joined other friends for a cookout then walked to Rock Harbor for the fireworks show.

Sadly, there are no photos to share, because we forgot to take the camera...
