Apple-Picking Excursion

It's that time of year again: time to head out to the Massachusett's countryside and pick some apples. Apples are just now ripening, and we haven't been to the orchards this early in the season for six years, so there were plenty of apples, and we'll have to go again in a couple of weeks to pick the varieties that aren't yet ripe.

As with many of our outings, yesterday's trip to the orchard began with a stop at the ice cream stand. Usually, this place is closed for the season when we drive by it, but, like I said, we made the trip earlier than usual this year.

The trees were loaded with apples.

But, of course, some of the best looking apples were way up high.

It didn't take long to fill up our half-bushel bag.

Back at home, Britt and Beau made an apple pie.

It looked good,

and tasted great.
